The Garden

Our backyard has a small plot of land filled with sand and stones. Using an old gift hamper basket, I started sifting 1/10 of the plot yesterday, with the above results.

Starting up my compost from kitchen scraps...they breakdown pretty easy. Updates on the garden will be given as I go along. :)

Project UC1 >> Reupholstery

Our dining set (gifted by my in-laws) is made of lovely solid wood, but the fabric had frayed due to heavy wear and tear over the years.

*My apologies... I forgot to take a pre-project photo of the complete set.

My very own staple gun *gloats* (Why yes, I do run around the house with it), a pair of needle nose pliers and 10 metres of patterned cloth of choice. :)

Fabric backing fully removed - the toughest part trying to pry out the numerous staples embedded in the chair. Removing the fabric was pretty easy, for it came apart quite easily (with the help of the nippy pliers). The sponge sandwiched between the front and back fabrics is of good quality, so there were no problems removing it. :)

Word of caution: When stripping fabric off any chair, pleasepleaseplease wear a pair of cotton gloves to prevent unwanted blisters and cuts to your hands.

Frontal view: The chair in its original state (on the left), and the first chair I covered (on the right).

Rear view: Original state (on the left), reupholstered (on the right).

Waiting for their 'makeover' to be complete.

Done! :)

P/s: Piping to be added to the back rest later on.
